ACOMO
The Australian Coastal and Oceans Modelling and Observations (ACOMO) Workshop is a three-day event showcasing the latest research and development in coastal and ocean modelling and observations.
IMOS brings together the observation and modelling communities to explore emerging approaches, share insights and discuss challenges from local coastal processes to global ocean models.
This biannual workshop provides a valuable opportunity for collaboration, discussion and knowledge sharing across the community.
The 2026 ACOMO Workshop
When: Tuesday 30 June – Thursday 2 July 2026
Where: University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay Campus

Workshop themes
- Integration of observations and models: process understanding, assessment, assimilation and gaps
- Multi-scale integration: understanding remote and local drivers using observations and models
- Incorporation of AI/ML and other emerging methods in prediction systems
- Regional Coupled Earth System Models: prediction across scales and time horizons
- Climate change: observations and modelling of regional impacts from global changes
- High-latitude oceans: regional models and observations to inform global processes
- Open theme (for submissions that fit within ACOMO but not the themes above)
Abstract submissions
We invite submissions for presentations that showcase the latest research and development in coastal and ocean modelling and observations.
Presentation options:
- Oral presentations: 15 minutes (10 minutes presentation + 5 minutes questions)
- Posters: A0, portrait
- Poster + Lightning Talk: Lightning talks are a 1-minute slot with a single slide. This is a great opportunity to creatively highlight a key result, let people know where to find your poster, and invite further discussion.
Submissions close Friday, 17 April 2026
