The Spirit of Tasmania I vessel, via the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Victoria, has collected data for the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) program during its passage across Bass Strait since 2008, collecting data from surface waters of Bass Strait and the coastal waters of Victoria and Tasmania. Data is collected by the Spirit of Tasmania I from an autonomous marine monitoring system, with a near real-time data stream established in 2013.
Since late 2016 there were minor interruptions to the near real-time data workflow. The Spirit of Tasmania I near real-time data is now available via the AODN Portal, and is regularly updated. The data is available via CSV and in netCDF format. The netCDF data can also be accessed via the AODN Thredds server.
See the IMOS website for more information about the IMOS Ships of Opportunity Temperate Merchant Vessels.
