OceanObs’19 – An Ocean of Opportunity
Planning for the third, decadal, international conference on ocean observing, OceanObs’19, is now officially underway.
The conference will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii on 16-20 September 2019. It is expected to attract 1,200 ocean observing scientists, managers, policy experts and users, from across seven continents.
IMOS Director Tim Moltmann is a member of the Sponsor Committee and has agreed to be Australia’s national representative. Membership of the Program Committee will be announced soon. The two previous OceanObs events (in 1999 and 2009) were held in Europe, and it is exciting to see this one being held in the Pacific region. The IMOS community is very well placed to make a real splash at OceanObs’19.
The call for Abstract Submissions opened on Monday 18th December 2017 – see here. This is a three stage process.
- Short (2,000 character) abstracts are due by 15th March 2018.
- The Program Committee will review the abstracts and consolidate them into a list of Community White Papers by 30th April 2018.
- The Community White Papers will then be due by 30 September 2018.
