NRETA offshore receiver recovery and servicing aboard the Solander
In June AATAMS, supported by AIMS recovered and serviced all of the offshore acoustic receivers located within Ningaloo Reef Marine Park.
Dr Adam Stow from Macquarie University and James van den Broek from NSW DPI volunteered their time to help AATAMS recovery process.
The Solander and crew were supplied by AIMS to service the largest offshore acoustic array currently in Australian waters. Both the vessel and the high level of professionalism from the crew enabled AATAMS to service the array within a record four day period. 100% of all equipment was recovered serviced and redeployed during this period.
Some interesting detections from manta rays, black tip whaler sharks and reef fish were recovered. The next servicing of the array is scheduled for December 09.
