New Node Leaders at WAIMOS

The Western Australian Node of IMOS (WAIMOS) has announced its new leadership structure following an election held on 6 June.

IMOS congratulates Gary Kendrick and Ming Feng on their election to the position of WAIMOS Node Leader.

WAIMOS is certain to benefit from Gary and Ming’s combined efforts, with balanced biological and physical oceanography expertise at the helm.

The IMOS Office formally acknowledges outgoing Node Leaders Chari Pattiaratchi and Jamie Oliver for their strong contributions to the establishment and development of WAIMOS over the past seven years.

Dr Nick D’Adamo, IMOS Board Member and former Node Deputy echoed this sentiment and extended his thanks to Chari.

“Few people know exactly how much background, unsighted and unsung effort and dedication Chari has put in getting WAIMOS (and indeed IMOS) up to begin with and then to keep it active and operating.

“Chari has put a huge amount of personal time into WAIMOS and the $6M Western Australian Government contribution to WAIMOS is one explicit form of recognition of his work,” he said.
