Readers that are familiar with the faceted searching on Step 1 of the AODN Portal, will be aware that the Parameter, and Platform facets are displayed with a hierarchical structure underpinned by the AODN vocabularies. Until recently, users wanting to find data collections linked to certain organisations, have had to look through an alphabetical list for the corresponding organisation.
The latest work has resulted in the organisation facet now being displayed in a hierarchy by Organisational category. This makes discovery of collections via organisation more straightforward. In addition, collections are now also identifiable based on associated IMOS facilities and subfacilities, by negotiating through the “Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS)” category.
This capability like the other facets, is driven by the AODN Organisation vocabulary which is utilised in the metadata records describing the collections on the AODN Portal.
The number after each facet value in the list represents the number of collections that are identified against that organisation, i.e. the result of refining the search with that particular value.
