Lockhart River Retrieval

Thanks to the assistance of Lockhart River Police the float was located and returned

The Google Earth picture below reveals that a Scripps Institution of Oceanography float, WMO ID 5901112, beached on a remote part of the far north Queensland coast near the Lockhart River, Cape York. CSIRO asked the local police to help search for the float with the aid of the latest GPS position. CSIRO also sent one of their float technicians, Alex Papij to investigate.  Luckily, with the assistance of local police officers; Senior Constable Allyson Sanewski and Constable Murray Sanewski the float was located washed up on a local beach and retrieved. The photo below shows that the float was in good condition with almost no biological growth covering the hull. Argo Australia greatly appreciates the help provided by local communities in helping find and return our valuable floats.
