Conditions of Use
Jump to formal policy – AODN Data Policy
The AODN is helping the Australian marine and climate science community to make the most of their collective data resources by enabling broad participation of researchers, government and state agencies, and providing access to the wealth of distributed marine data. The philosophy of ‘collect once, re-use many times’, underpins the AODN and to support this philosophy we have developed and enabled an information infrastructure, based on international data and software standards, that provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for marine-related data discovery, access and download.
The benefits of open data and data sharing are many; for a broad overview you are invited to visit the Australian National Data Service.
For data providers, whilst it is preferred that metadata and data is made available as open data it is recognised that for some data restrictions may apply. In all cases the licencing conditions on the data should be clearly stated. The AODN places no constraints on the data published through AODN, you are free to publish the data elsewhere.
You accept all risks and responsibility for losses, damages, costs and other consequences resulting directly or indirectly from using the AODN Portal and any information or material available from it.
The AODN and data providers give no warranty regarding the quality, accuracy, completeness, currency, relevance or suitability for any particular purpose of the data published.
If you have any concerns about the veracity of the data, please make enquiries via info(at)aodn.org.au to be directed to the data custodian.
