All IMOS datasets will be described in the online IMOS Metadata Catalogue, or MEST, which provides an interface for searching and accessing IMOS datasets archived at eMII.  The MEST will interface directly with the eMII data portal which is under development.

The IMOS / eMII MEST is a metadata entry and search tool. Data managers will use the MEST to build a catalogue of IMOS datasets. Anyone interested in IMOS data can use this catalogue and the MEST search functions to find and preview IMOS datasets.

The IMOS / eMII MEST is based on the BlueNetMEST which itself is a modified version of GeoNetwork opensource version 2.2.0.

Data managers from some IMOS groups generate metadata records on independent versions of the MEST which are then harvested by the IMOS master catalogue. These managers will use the same MEST release as eMII.
