The backbone of the AODN is participation in the culture of data-sharing. In order to maintain and expand Australia’s single open access interface to “Everything Marine”, the AODN relies on a fully functional and user-friendly Portal, as well as on new data contributors who offer their marine data to be shared with the scientific and non-scientific community. Therefore, it is a priority of the AODN to offer every user personalised support through the Help desk facility.

The Help desk can assist with:

• questions about and problems with the Portal (links, visualisations, options),
• all issues related to Metadata and documentation,
• and instructions to new data contributors.
