Data: One Tree Island
At One Tree Island there are three Network / Sensor Poles, one in the main or central lagoon located within Central Bommie (marked as '1' on the map below), one in a small bommie within the Second Lagoon (marked as '2' on the map) and one in Third Lagoon (marked as '3' on the map).
Each pole has a thermistor string with six thermistors on it, the first in the string is located at the base of the pole and at certain extreme low tides this thermistor may be out of the water. The second thermistor is located at the top of the outer wall of the atoll and then the other four thermistors are located down the outer wall of the atoll into the lagoon with Thermistor-6 located deep in the lagoon waters.
The key to using the data is noting the following:
- Thermistor-1 is at the base of the pole and may, on extreme tides, be dry
- Thermistor-2 is at the top of the coral wall at a depth so that it is always wet
- Thermistor-6 is at the bottom of the atoll wall in the depths of the lagoon
- Thermistors 2 to 6 form a depth profile down the atoll wall.
On pole '3' there is a Vaisala WXT520 weather station.
Use the Deployment Diagrams below to get more information about the location of each sensor.

Data Access
Use the table below with the map to select the sensor you wish to get data for, use the 'Data Link' icon to go to the GBROOS/FAIMMS data web site to view and download the data for that sensor. For the thermistor data you can select the date range you wish to view, for the weather station you can select the parameter you wish to view as well as the dates.
Note: MSL = Mean Sea Level, for One Tree Island this is 2.0m below Highest Astronomical Tide (HAT)
